It's the first day back after winter break, and I must say that at the moment, life sucks. Just lots of stress and drama, so I apologize in advance for lack of entusiasm for the next few days. I hope everyomne had a fantastic break from school. I took my drivers test for the first time and failed because there was a yellow light and if I slammed on the breaks I would have been rear-ended and if I kept going the light would have turned red before I completely exited the intersection. So no matter what I did, I was going to fail because both of those are critical errors. So that sucked. In happier news, I got to spend New Year's Eve with my best friends. We went out to dinner and drove around to look at the lights. So theres the good news. Anyways, let me explain why life sucks. Yesterday, I realized that I had less friends than I thought I did. They were all lying to me and leading me on and using me. It was because of one person that I saw his and their true colors. Which is okay, because now Im not wasting my time on people who dont really care about me and I can focus on school and making myself happy. Of course what happened hurt, because I lost 90% of the people in my life, but it helped me learn that I can't trust anyone except myself. New Year's is about new beginnings and I just happened to have one handed to me on a silver platter. So I plan to make 2017 the best year yet. As I continue to update this website, I want all of you to get to know me as a person, student, and a friend. I will talk about what we do in this class(the main reason for even having this website), what I do outside of class and on the weekends, how my day is going, what is new in my life, and so much more. I look forward to sharing my experience in this class with all of you. Let me start out by saying I spent the majority of my break up at my family's beach house. I ran on the beach, spent time in town, and celebrated Christmas with my mom and dad. I wish everyone a happy and peaceful 2017.

January 10, 2017
Hello everyone, happy Tuesday. I hope all of you are having a fantastic day. Today in class Mr.Miller introduced us to Google Drive and Google Sites. He explained how to put in words, pictures, links, and that we can code our websites through Google Sites instead of our usual Notepad/Filezilla combination. I will continue to use Notepad and Filezilla, although, I do intend to save my files onto my Gooogle Drive. I just personally find it easier.
Its Wednesday, so that means its time for a Wednesday Challenge. Our challenge for the day is to cut a piece of cardboard into a 1 foot by 1 foot square. The team to be the closest to the measurements win. I was paired with Alex. He did the cutting while I measured. We finished towards the end of the period and started working on our Wednesday Challenge Forms.Square Challenge
Happy Thursday everyone. Today in class we continued working on our websites. I didn't have a laptop for most of the class period, due to the fact that someone was using mine. When I finally got one, I didnt have much time to do anything.
Happy Friday the 13th everyone. I hope no bad luck comes your way. Today in class, people from the Robotics club went up and discussed this years challenge and what has been going on during the after school meetings. We watched the preview of the challenge as well, which you can watch below.
Happy Tuesday everyone. Today is the first day of school for the week because yesterday was Martin Luther King Jr Day and we had no school. In class this period, we all kept on updating our websites and learning how to use Google Drive.
Happy Wednesday everyone. Since today is, in fact, Wednesday, we have a Weekly Wednesday Challenge. Our challenge is to build a device to transport a golf ball(Eboli-ball) from one paper bag to another. We were given the following supplies, a pencil,
2 rubber bands, 3 pieces of string, 2 straws, a tack, and 2 popsicle sticks. Our "device" looked like this:
Check out my Wednesday Challenge Form. Eboli Ball Challenge
I was in a group with Hunter and Alvin. Your score is the time it takes your group to transport 3 "eboli-balls" from one bag to the other. Our time was 20 seconds. I think we did rather well. (Plus I was in a dress and heels so... running wasnt the easiest task. lol.)
Happy Thursday everyone. I wasnt in class today because in the morning I slipped and fell down the stairs in the quad and ended up spraining my ankle pretty badly. I spent my morning and early afternoon in the doctors office and getting X-rays and picking up crutches. I must say, it wasnt how I planned to spend my day. Anywho, I did show up for 6th period, soooo.... I dont know why/if thats relavant.
Im back at school today... in the rain, but happy Friday everyone. I never realized how slippery floors were, especially on crutches. Anyways, My group ended up winning the Wednesday Challenge! Good job guys. Today the class split up into two groups; those working with Google Sites with Mr.Miller, and those working with html with Dr.Neat(so I stayed with Dr.Neat). I took time to update my website and get it online.
Happy Monday everyone. It's raining once again today, it doesnt seem to be stopping anytime soon. Today in class we went over grades and how the Wednesday Challenges effect our grades. Since this is a short entry, I think Ill tell you about what I've been eating the past few days. I assume most of you aren't vegan like I am, if you are, great, maybe you can try this recipe(even if you aren't, it's still very tasty.) Its chickpea curry served over white quinoa. It turns out rather well.
Try it out! Green Curry Chickpeas
It's Tuesday. Yay. Today in class we worked on websites. I helped Jaden get his html working properly. Towards the end of class, I had just enough time to update my website and get it online.
Happy Wednesday everyone. Today we have yet another weekly Wednesday Challenge. Our challenge was to design a "handout" for this years robotics competition. My group included Hunter, Connor, Keilah, and Alvin. We decided to desine a type of flying-propeller thingy. I dont know how to explain it. We presented our idea to the judges and will find out which idea will be used tomorrow. Here is the form. Handout Challenge
It's Thursday, and National Austrailia Day(I only mention it because I'm Austrailian myself.) At the beginning of class today, groups finished presenting their "handout" ideas to the judges. In other news, I should be off my crutches tomorrow. That means I'll be able to move around without it taking forever.
Happy Friday everyone. At the beginning of class today the judges came up to give us the results of the Wednesday challenge. "My groups handout" is the one we will be making this year! In other words, we won the Wednesday Challenge. There was another winner, whos idea was presented the best, so it wasnt just us. After that, the Robotics Club people came up to discuss what they have been working on.
Welcome back everyone, It's Monday. Over the weekend I dyed my friends hair green. It looked really cool. We also binge-watched about 6 movies back to back. I hope you all had fun weekends as well. Today in class Dr. Neat went over the required things we have to have on our websites by the end of the week. Mr.Miller then went over "resource management" and how we need to not waste materials, keep our files on our laptops organized, and respect classroom rules.
Happy Tuesday. Hope everyone is doing well. Today in class we had the period to work on our cardboard cars. I haven't made much progress to be honest. I have had a lot on my mind lately. I hope I finish on time. If not, I guess that's that. In other news, I got a 98% on my history test I took a week or so ago. Fun fact about me is that history is my favorite subject. I always look forward to it. I guess I enjoy learning about the hardships our country and the world went through. World war 2 has to be the most fascinating in my opinion.
It's Wednesday. That means its a time for our weekly Wednesday Challenge. This week, I'm a judge, along with Alvin, Hunter, Keilah, and Connor.
We are judging the groups on how they think they should assemble this years handout. I created a spreadsheet of all the groups and we will score each one at the end
of the period.
Check out the form. Handout Challenge
Today is Thursday. Hope everyone is doing well. Im sitting at a computer in one of my classes, and I decided to check how the spreadsheet from yesterday looked and it may have been deleted somehow. I'm hoping I can retrieve it today in Dr.Neats class. If it was deleted, that would be very bad. I'll hopefully be able to recover it. ~Two class periods later~ Okay, I recovered the spreadsheet, so we are all good. Anyways, at the beginning of class today, the last two groups presented their ideas. The judges then went into the shop to pick a winner and start coming up with an idea to assemble our "handouts" The winning group had a "beyblade-type" design to it. We didn't have time to announce the winner, so we will announce it tomorrow.
Happy Friday everyone. I didnt catch what exactly the Robotics group said at the beginning of class, but they presented how everything in the club is going and the progress that they're making.
After that we announced the winner of the challenge. Then we were set off to work on out websites and cardboard cars.
Check out the results.The Results
It's Monday. At the beginning of class, Mr.Miller went over how we can improve our Wednesday Challenge forms and how grading websites went. Throughout the rest of the period, Alvin and I went into the shop to work on the handle for our handout. We also got our rough model to fly rather well(although it almost hit me in the face a few times, and the "blade" flew off once, but it works rather well). We will be showing our model to the class tomorrow.
Happy Tuesday everyone. I found vegan goldfish. That is completely irrelevant to this class, but I love goldfish and I found some that work for my diet, so Im rather happy about it. They actually taste like regular goldfish too. Anyways, today is the last day for the class to work on their cars. Also, I have bad news. Out handout was cancelled because they dont allow flying objects. This would have been our design.
We will be making a type of "fidget toy" To be honest, I will have to find something else to work on because the new idea doesnt interest me in the slightest. It's not that its a bad idea, I just dont like the fact that it doesnt relate to the game at all. That and I've never liked the idea of a "fidget toy"
Today is Wednesday. Matty's idea is what we will be using for the Handout. We are to design a fidget toy. Im in a group with Keilah, Connor, Alvin, and Hunter(the same people as the last two challenges.)
Our idea is based off our first handout idea. A propeller-like fidget toy. You flick it with your hand and it spins. Fun, right? Anyways, in other news, I apologize if my updates get sloppy and unedited. My dad was hospitalized yesterday and I have a
lot on my hands now and not a lot of time to update. My family is hoping he will get better within the next couple months, but only time will tell. Anyways, Heres the form for the challenge.
Fidget Toy Challenge
Happy Thursday everyone. At the beginning of class today, the groups finished presenting ideas for the handout. I have a sinking feeling that our idea will not be chosen, but we shall wait and see. Today is also the big test for the cardboard cars! Im a spotter(someone who catches the cars when/if they run off the ramps and measures how far the cars went) along with Keilah. So far, no car has made it all the way down, but we will be testing more tomorrow since we ran out of time. I noticed people were still working on their cars today in class, so I hope the glue dries in time for testing tomorrow.
Happy Friday. We have a 3-day weekend, woohoo. Anyways, have any of you heard the song 50 Ways to Say Goodbye by Train?
It's one of my favorites. I hope a few of you take the time to listen to it. On a different note, today in class we listened to the robotics club people talk about their progress with this years robot. We also found out what design we will be using for the fidget toy. It kind of relates to the game now,so I like it a bit more. After that we worked on updating our websites. Hope everyone has a nice 3-day weekend. I'll see you Tuesday.
Happy Tuesday and Happy Valentines Day everyone. Hope you all have a lovely day. Anyways, yesterday, I passed my drivers test, and then got insurance. Insurance for the average teenager is 3000 dollars a year. I'm hoping to get a job so I can help my dad pay for it. Anyways, today at the beginning of class, we went over how the majority of the class either had a A or F at the last grading period(this past weekend.) We talked about how you can come in at snack, lunch, and after school to work most days. We will have time in class today to work on our websites. I recieved a 0 for this grading session. I just forgot to update through filezilla. I'll hopefully get caught up today.
Today in class we had the infamous "Pipe/Tube Toss Wednesday Challenge!" I will say that since I'm short, and Keilah was the one throwing to me, I had a hard time catching
the pipes because he threw them too far forward. Lol, no hard feelings Keilah! We ended up losing, but oh well, I still had a nice time.
Check out the form. Tube Toss Challenge

Happy Thursday. Today in class we worked on our websites for the first half of class. The second half, Keilah and I were "spotters" for some more testing of the cardboard cars. In other news, did you all hear about the rain storm that should start tomorrow morning? We could get up to 10 inches of rain. I hope everyone stays warm and drives safely! Take care everyone.
Happy Friday! As predicted, the rain has already begun. Hopefully it doesnt get too bad, I do have a feeling there will be a lot of car accidents today. I hope no one gets hurt. Anyways, today when I got into class, Keilah was nice enough to lend me his jacket since I was soaked. (Thank you Keilah!) Today during class we listened to the robotics club people talk about the robot. We went into the shop and saw the robot in action as well. Car races continued today as well! I continued to be a spotter, along with Keilah.
Happy Tuesday everyone! We all just came back from yet another 3-day weekend! Can I just say that the storm on Friday was brutal. I was soaked from head to toe just being outside for about 10/15 minutes. The winds were super strong so when the rain hit my skin, it really hurt(since I was stupid and wore a tank top.) There were lots of branches and rocks on the roads, making it harder to drive and visibility was very low. I hope everyone stayed safe, dry, and warm! Today in class the Robotics crew went up to talk about their robot some more. Apparently they went over to La Canada and did a "scrimmage" with them. After that we went over website grades as a class. I once again, got a 0. That's alright though. I'll catch up eventually... I hope... I changed the background of my website so my links can be seen better. I also added pictures for the Wednesday Challenges and fixed my broken links. Hopefully all this will bring my grade up a bit at the next grading point.
Happy Wednesday everyone! Today in class we have a Wednesday Challenge! Our job is to make a sketch up of a capital letter "A" and then cut it out of cardboard. Alvin and I are working together and following Connor/Keilah's sketch up to cut out our "A". We finished our sketch ups in time but didnt have time to cut out the "A's". We shall continue them tomorrow. In the meantime, check out the Wednesday Challenge Form! "A" Challenge
Happy Thursday everyone! Today we cut out our "A"..... THE WRONG "A" TO BE EXACT! WAHHHHHHHHHH. So, in short, Alvin and I wont be winning this Wednesday Challenge. Thats okay though. It was kind of funny.
This was the "A" we were supposed to make
This was the "A" we made
Happy Friday everyone! Today we started off class watching the video discussing how NASA is looking for water out in space. We also talked about how you need to remain light when you go into space, so they use light but sturdy materials while constructing spacecreafts. After that we recieved the results of the Wednesday Challenge. The winners are..... Keilah and Connor!!!! Congrats guys!
That was our "A". Looked pretty good if I do say so myself. It would have been nice if it was the right "A". Oh well. So anyways, today in class we updated our websites. I finished the Wednesday Challenge Form for the "A" and did my best to improve my entries. Hope everyone has a good weekend!
Happy Monday! We didnt get much rain this weeked like the forecast said we would, so I was kind of disappointed. In other news, I have a history test on Wednesday and I havent even strted the outlines(which I need for the test) so I'll have to really work hard to finish them in time... *nervous laughter* Anyways, today in class we went over who should be doing what in class during this week. I will get started on my cardboard car today/tomorrow.
Happy Tuesday! It's a banking day today so classes are shorter. Anyways, I still havent finished my outlines... I'm going to have to stay up all night tonight.
That and I have a dentist appointment today. Hopefully I don't have any cavities. Moving on, today in class we continued with our projects from yesterday. I will continue to work on my cardboard car. I finished the body and the wheels, now all I have to do is put it all together.
It is now 3 in the morning... Why am I updating now? Because I need a break from outlines. I'm still not done. UGHHHH. Maybe I'll be done by 5. Now, back to work.
It's March 1st! I turn 17 in 20 days! Happy Wednesday to all of you. Today in class we have a weekly Wednesday Challenge! I am a Judge along with Michael! We started out as a group of 3, but the other person had to leave early, so Mr. Miller made us judges The challenge is to construct a portion of a rocket with 3 transitions out of cardboard. We will be judging based off smoothness, uniformity, and accuracy. Lets get started! Check out the form! Boattail Challenge
The challenge continues! Today Michael and I finished up the spreadsheet for the Wednesday Challenge! We collected all the devices at the end of the class period and we will Judge them first thing in class tomorrow.
Happy Friday everyone! You all looking forward to the weekend?! I know I am! Anyways, today in class Michael and I started calculating the scores for the boattails! We will be announcing the winner on Monday! Have a nice weekend everybody!
I now work at Hot Topic. WOOOHOOOOO! Yay me! Anyways, happy Monday everyone. Maybe not so happy for me, I'm having my teeth drilled into today. So today in class we went over grades and the number of F's in the class went up from 12 to 17.
Not good. Michael and I also finished judging the Wednesday Challenge from last week. Check out the results.
Boattail Challenge Results
Happy Tuesday!!! My teeth hurt sooo bad!!!! AGH.... Oh well, today in class we went over how to save files to google drive and make it so everyone can view them. We also continued with car races at 1:30(half way through class). I was once again a spotter with Keilah. Hope everyone has a lovely day.
Wednesday Challenge time! Our goal is to mail a potato chip without it breaking. Im working on my own today! Woohoo.
Today is Friday and its a minimum day! Yayyyy! So today I calculated what the score should be for the chip. It should come out around 4. We shall see! Check out my powerpoint.
Chip Challenge
Dont forget to check out the form.
Chip Challenge Form
Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a nice weekend. I went up to Santa Barbara to visit my godparents. They have the most adorable fat cat named Amber.
Cute right?! Anyways, today in class we started constructing our "packages". I got John/Andrews design.
Happy Tuesday! Today I started and finished constructing the box for my chip. All I have left to do tomorrow is fill it with cotton balls and seal it up.
It is Wednesday. The deadline for our chip packages. I sealed mine up fairly early into class, so I had lots of time to update my website.
This is how it turned out
This is what John and Andrew made from the instructions on my powerpoint.
Good luck to everyone at the Robotics competition and happy Thursday everyone! Today we started off class with a video on the new design for the mars rover. The rest of the class was used to put pictures of our Chip box on our websites.
Its a minimum day and the last day of school before spring break! I came to school wearing a pink dinosaur costume because I had lost a bet. Alvin kept grabbing my tail and everyone else just kept asking to feel how soft it was. YAYYYYY! Keilah, ALvin, and I worked to find a livestream for the Robotics Competition! I also updated my website.Hope everyone has a nice spring break!
Spring break was amazing! I got to meet my birth mother(the one in the red/orange shirt) for the first time and see my brother for the first time in 9 years! We flew out to Florida to see my grandma, and they drove down from Tennessee(where I was born) to meet us! We went miniture golfing, camping, and swimming! My brother also taught me how to play pool. Before they arrived, I celebrated my 17th birthday! I went to a restaraunt called Coconut Jacks. I got scallops. They were delicious. Our camp site was very nice, we still slept in a tent, but there was a main area with a pool table, weight room, hot tub, and ping pong table. My brother and I spent most of our time in there to be honest. We finished up our trip with my parents, grandma, uncle, birthmom, and brother all going out to dinner. I had a great time with everyone and I hope to see them all again soon. Check out all my pictures!
We are back in school today!!! WOOHOOO! Im so glad to be back with all my friends, I missed them soooo much! Today in class the robotics crew went up and talked about how the trip/competition went. They described what the "pit" was as well. They won the imagery award as well.
Wednesday Challenge time!!! This weeks challenge is to decide if you would rather write out didgets 1-1,000,000 or take your regular math class for an A. I was in the "veteran" group consisting of
Connor, Keilah, Alvin, and myself. We started out by writing 0-9 ten times each and calculating the average. Then calculating which we would spend more time doing; taking the class, or writing the numbers.
Math vs Numbers
Today in class, Dr. Neat announced the winners of the Wednesday Challenge, which were Alvin, Connor, Keilah, and myself. Throughout class, Alvin and I went dumpster diving and pulled out lots of wood from the drama kids Phantom of the Opera set that they were just throwing away. We will unload it into the shop tomorrow.
Dr. Neat and Mr.Miller are absent today, along with the vets, except for ALvin and I. That means the shop was locked and we couldnt unload the wood, so we will have to wait until Monday. Alvin and I tried to get a livestream for the competition in Orange County, but by the time we did, we had missed our teams match. So we told the class to just work on their websites.
Happy Monday! Today the class period was spent listening to the Robotics people talk about the competition and how they are going to Championships. They talked about their experience in the hotel, during the matches, and inspection. Apparently the Swiss team did really well too. After they finished talking, Alvin, Connor, and I went to unlaod the wood we left out on Friday. We also did some more dumpster diving to collect some more. We ran out of time at the end of class and will need to put it all away tomorrow during class.
Happy Tuesday everyone! Today in class Mr. Miller told Connor, Alvin, Keilah, and I to make a box for the robot to be shipped to Texas. Keilah and Connor began the CAD while Alvin and I continued to carry wood up from the dumpsters. We ended up needing a custodians cart because there was so much. We didnt have time to sort all of it, and will have to try and finish tomorrow.
Its Wednesday and today the Swiss team is visiting us! Our Wednesday Challenge today is to estimate Pi. Im in a group with Connor, Keilah, and Alvin once again. We ended up measuring one of the containers we use for wood glue. Check out the form! Math vs Numbers
I also got my chip back today. I got a score of 10(compared to the estimated score of 4) because my chip broke a little. Before class ended, I finished organizing the wood pile, its awesome how much wood was just being thrown away.
That was our formula for the challenge. I know its impossible to read. Dont even try.
This was my chip. It wasnt this broken when I got it. Alvin messed around with it and it broke more. So yeah...
Happy Thursday! Today in class we found out that we may not need to make a new box for the robot, but instead make modifications to an old box. Alvin and I did some more dumpster diving and got the last of the wood that was being thrown away. Keilah, Alvin, and I also continued on the CAD for the new box, just in case we need to build it. After the robot box is done, the 4 of us are going to make a new storage unit for the wood pile so we can stop using plastic bins and the floor.
Its Friday!!!! WOOOHOOOO! Happy Friday everyone. Hope you all have a wonderful day! Today in class Mr.Miller talked to us about the FRC Championship in Houston, Texas. Other than that, I had a little time to update my
website.Kirk also announced the results of the Chip Challenge.
Check them out! Chip Results
Over the weekend I binge-watched 13 Reasons Why. Its a very emotional Netflix series about a girl named Hannah Baker who takes her own life. It shows how her friends cope with the loss of their friend. I was crying through most of it. I suggest you all watch it because it sends a good message. We are on block schedule this week and have 2 hours for each class. Anyways, happy Monday everyone. Today we went over how Dr.Neat graded over the weekend. After that, he announced the plan for the day. Alvin, Keilah, Connor, and I are to build a new storage shelf for the shop. We began working on the CAD and should finish it first thing in class on Wednesday.
Block 2/4/6
Happy Wednesday everyone! Today is my friend Josephs birthday! He is turning 17. wooohooo! Anyways, last night I still couldnt sleep, if you didnt know, Ive been having a lot of trouble getting any sleep at all lately.
I just keep tossing and turning, so if any of you have any ideas on how to fall asleep easier, please ket me know! :) Today in class, Keilah, Alvin, and I continued with the CAD. Connor(who is as sick as a dog) also added a picture of "Nugget" to his website.
Im not exactly sure what its from but he is kind of cute.
Check it out on his website. Connor's Website
That is basically what our sketchup looks like so far.
Block 2/4/6
We are back on regular schedule today and back to blocks on monday! I also have a history test today and I'm not ready at all... but I said that last time and got a 96% so... maybe I'll pass? In other news, I'm sick...Pretty sure I caught whatever Connor has. My throat is dry and scratchy, my voice is pretty much gone, I have a fever of 101.8, and Ive been throwing up. I feel completely drained. I dont know how I'm managing to make it through the day if I'm being honest. I fell asleep in second period and again in fourth. The only thing I can really keep down is water. So... Yepyep. Still having a nice day though! In class today, if I'm being completely honest, we didnt get anything done. Like, literally NOTHING done. Since we finished the CAD, we were going to work on the supply list, but no one got motivated. That and the fact that we couldnt get the sketch up to open on any of the laptops. Hopefully we will actually get something done on Monday.
Its Monday and my friend Ben's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAH DOODE! YOURE 18! WOOHOOO! Him and I are going out to dinner to celebrate. Anyways, we are on regular schedule today and blocks start back up tomorrow. Today in class we started off by watching a video. Check it out below.
Other than that, Keilah, Connor, Alvin, and I went back into the shop to continue working on the storage unit. Its 1:19 at the moment, and I have no idea what is going on. We did just get moved into the cave to work, since we shouldnt have laptops near the machines. Alvin is helping Alex print out his sketch up for his longboard, Keilah is making a supplies list, and Connor is working on a gutter? I think its for a Challenge of sorts.
Happy Tuesday everyone! The robotics people are leaving for Houston tonight! I hope all goes well. The class today began with them talking about how it is all supposed to go. Like their schedule and what not. Anyways, since we are on block schedule, we are starting our Wednesday Challenge today. Im a judge; along with Keilah and Connor. The challenge is a boat race. I am in charge of keeping track of everything; who is on each team, who is switching designs with who, and who gets DQ'd. Connor, Keilah, and Alvin went off to the parking lot to get the gutter working. On Thursday, I will we recieving the boats and making sure they match the sketchup/drawings. If they dont, the group in DQ'd. I must say, all that I've done today has been really stressful.
Block 2/4/6
Happy Thursday! I finished CAASPP Testing today! WOOHOO! We are back to judging the boat race challenge today. yayyy... more stress... wooohooo.... Amnyways, I am stressed as can be, but gotta get this done, you know?
So class has gotten underway. Connor and Keilah are outside working on the gutter and their boats. The challenge went pretty badly in my opinion. Only two groups got a score higher than 0.
Check out the results. Boat Race Results
Check out the form too! Boat Race Form
Block 2/4/6
Hello hello! It's Tuesday and we are back on regular schedule. Since we didnt have school yesterday, my friends; Mackenzie, David, Karen, and I went to six flags to celebrate my birthday. Yes, my birthday was back in March but since I was out of town, we celebrated a little late. I have to say that my favorite ride was X2. I hadnt been on it before yesterday so I didnt really know what to expect. It was really fun; although I didnt feel too well afterwards. We also played bunch of games, and spent a lot of money. I personally went from having $120+ to haveing like $34. Soooo. yeahhhh. I also won a stuffed Bulbasaur from whack-a-mole and a pacman ghost from skeeball. So, in short, It was a really good day. Anyways. Its Tuesday and the Robotics people are talking about how Championships went. Im just updating my website as they go along.
Wednesday Challenge!!! We are to figure out how to cut a large sheet of plywood into as many useable pieces for skateboards with as little waste as possible. Im in a group with Connor and Hunter. Connor ended up doing most of the calculations. Since we finished before the bell, we started talking about cars. When is comes to cars, Im interested in purchasing the 2013 Honda Civic. A used one averages around $13,000; and thats in relatively good condition.
Check out the form too! Skateboard Form
Today in class Keilah and I continued finalizing the parts list and showing it to Dr.Neat and Mr.Miller. Now all we have to do is get it passed by Mrs.Marthos. Connor is off working on a shop press and Alvin is printing out skateboards for people.
Happy Friday everyone. Today in class we kept working on websites, skateboards, and the shelf for the shop. I also gave Connor one of many microcassetes I have.
Happy Monday! Today in class Mr.Miller went over grades; apparently 19 people have F's. After that, I went through my entries and noticed i was missing a couple Wednesday Challenge Forms. So I completed them and updated my website, so I should be current.
It's Tuesday! Today Keilah is emailing the presentation of the shelf to Mrs.Marthos. Connor and I continued to update our websites. I tried to talk to Mr.Miller about my grade but he said he is still making changes.
Happy Wednesday guys! During lunch today, I went to McDonalds with Karen. By the time I got back, the bell had rung to go to class and I didnt get to eat my chicken nuggets. They are going to be sitting at my feet until the end of class. Im actually kinda sad lol. Anyways, in class today Mr.Miller made changed to the grades so I now have an 87.50% in the class; hopefully I can get that up to an A soon. Today's Wednesday Challenge is all about paper airplanes. Im paired up with Connor. The task in to make an airplane that goes the farthest. We design a plane, the switch designs. Mr.Miller doesnt want us to use sketchup today, so we have to draw our design. We can only use paper today, no tape, no glue, no nothing. While Connor is experimenting with how to fold the paper, I am updating my website and filling out the Wednesday Challenge form. We didnt have time to "fly" our plane so Connor and I will do so first thing tomorrow in class. The group we traded with gave us a list of 3 videos to watch, but we didnt have enough time to do so.
This was the plane Connor and I folded.
Happy Thursday everyone! I just started a new book today, its called "The Walled City" by Ryan Graudin. Its really good so far.Its about 3 teenagers who have 18 days to escape the city. I think I'm going to enjoy reading it. Today in class I flew our plane, we probably didnt win since we didnt fold the given plane. Well, to be fair, we were only given 5 minutes to fold and we were given 3 links to 3 12-minute videos, which we wouldnt have time to watch. So either way we would have lost. Other than that, I updated my website and listened to Connor and Keilah talk about thickened water.
It's Cinco De Mayo today! WOOHOO. Anyways, I finished reading The Crucible today, the ending was fantastic!!! It's a fantastic read, I'd highly reccomend it. The other book I'm reading; "The Walled City" Is also really good so far. It's a very gripping story, I hope it keeps on like that. So, today in class Mr.Miller went over the Wednesday Challenge. The people who won wasnt the group who had that furthest distance. The teams that got the top two distances were disqualified. For the rest of class I updated my website and I had time to work on my essay for APEX. Im writing about Obamas back to school speech and how it affected peoples views.
Okay. So I broke my finger. I got it slammed in a car door by my friend. It hurts. A LOT. Anyways, over the weekend I bleached my hair, so it's white now. I think I may keep it like this until the end of the school year. In other news, I got to World 1 Level 27 of Plants vs Zombies. I'm slightly obsessed with that game. Today in class Dr.Neat let the class go to continue with skateboards, cars, and websites. I never knew how much I used my middle finger to type until its surprisingly difficult to adjust. Hopefully I can take my splint off soon. It keeps throbbing. I dont know if thats good or bad. Probably bad.
Happy Tuesday. I have a history test tomorrow and I still havent finished my outlines. I feel like it will be an all-nighter tonight. I wish I strted them sooner so I dont have to rush last minute, but oh well. So, good news; I finally bought painkillers for my finger. The swelling has gone down slightly and it doesnt hurt as much, but I dont know how bad it will be when the painkiller wears off. So, Im still stuck on level 27. I just cant beat it. UGHHH. Someone help meh. The goal of the level is to not let the zombies trample the flowers.
Wednesday Challenge Day. The goal is to build a "boat" out of one sheet of grid paper. Whichever one can hold the most weight without sinking wins. Connor, Keilah, Hunter, and I were judges.
Check out the results.Grid Boat Challenge
So we are no longer building a shelf for the shop. So looks like I will just be keeping my website up to date for the time being. I would start on a skateboard, but I really dont think I would be able to complete it by the end of the school year. Car races are continuing soon, so maybe I can be a spotter for that. I'll just wait and see.
Today I told the class the results for the Wednesday Challenge. For the rest of class, I updated my website. Car races also started up today(I was a spotter).
This weekend was amazing. By far the best weekend I've had in a very long time. I emailed Mrs.Martos and got a response regarding the shelf.... WE GOT THE GREEN LIGHT AND CAN START TODAY! WOOOHOOOO! I'm just really happy. Anyways, today we are getting started on the shelf. Keilah is talking to Dr.Neat about our budget.
So, Cole took Keilah to buy the wood for the shelf today at lunch, so we are good to start assembly. Its so nice to finally be able to start working on something. I hope all goes as planned and we can finish it by the end of the school year.
Wednesday Challenge Day! The challenge is to pair up with someone, one of you is blind-folded and the other instructs you how to attach pipes togther to match the image given. I was paired up with Garen. All I can say is I suck at giving directions.
Happy Thursday everyone. Hope you all are having amazing days. I wish life was easier. People just end up making things difficult. As my junior year comes to an end, its nothing but stress and work. I rarely have any free time; and when I do, its very limited. I cant sleep, I get sick whenever I eat, and I can barely focus on anything. I'm missing a few links for my website which I need to fix before the year ends.
It's my dad's birthday today so I will be meeting my mom and him at New Moon for his birthday dinner. I dont think we have gone there since his last birthday, so it will be nice to go there again. Anyways, today in class, Alvin and I continued cutting down wood for the shelf. We should finish by the end of class. Keilah also ripped a 2x4 that was bolted to the ground out. Whoever bolted it there in the first place did so diagonally so it was interestibng to look at.
So, I went to prom tonight. My boyfriend/date, Kevin Strawn, and my friends, David, George, Mara, Annie, and Keilah made it the best night of my life. I never thought I'd enjoy something like prom. I've never been fond of dressing fancy or dancing, but I had an amazing time. Maybe I'll go to my prom next year lol.
Kevin and I also went to Prom plus, which is basically an afterparty for prom. There was a rock wall, mechanical shark, a trampoline, lifesized foosball, a "casino", a zipline, laser tag, and lots of food!
It was about 4:30am when I took that picture, so sorry if I look really tired.
At the beginning of class today, I couldn't find my flashdrive(which had the only up-to-date copy of the CAD), so that wasnt fun. Luckily Kevin had a copy of it, it wasn't completely current, but it had enough to work with. I ended up recieving a text from my friend, who ended up having my flashdrive. After I opened up the CAD, we continued cutting wood for the shelves. Alvin is going to dissassemble the CAD for the second shelf tonight so we will have it for tomorrow. If we really manage our time, we should finish by the end of the school year. At the end of class, I spent some time tidying the area we were working on.
Banking Day! Less time to work... YAYYYYY. So today in class, Alvin continued cutting down the 2x4's and Keilah began drilling holes for the skrews. Connor was fixing up the light, and I was keeping track of everything we have left. I also emailed Mrs.Martos about some plywood we have in the shop that we would like to use, so I'm just waiting on a response from that. We also kind of started assembly today. So WOOHOO! Progress.
Happy Wednesday everyone! Tomorrow is my last day at burbank! YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! *dabs* Anyway, Ive become obsessed with Jon Bellion. His songs are so powerful. My favorite has to be Guillotine.
Kevin is the one who introduced me to his songs. You should also listen to IRobot. Okayyyyyy, mopving on. Today in class... WE ENDED UP BREAKING NOT ONE, NOT TWO, BUT THREE DRILL BITS!!!!! On the other hand, we got some work done on the shelf so... all is good I suppose.
Happy Thursday! Today in class Connor, Keilah, Alvin, and I continued assembling the shelf.
Happy Friday! The last one of the school year at that. Alvin, Connor, Keilah and I continued to work on the chelf. Hopefully we will finish assembling the first one by the end of class today. Then we have Wednesday... And only Wednesday to finish the second shelf. I think this is the point in time where all my optimism of finishing is gone. I must say, I axctually thought we could do it. Now I kind of understand why we never got things done. We dont apply ourselves. We suck at time management. And everyone keeps getting distracted. I know for a fact, that next year, Id like to work more dilligently. So we can actually do something, and do it well.
Both shelves are incomplete. One we didnt even start. My grade may not remain a B like I wanted it to. Well, more needed it to. Its so... irritating. I just wanted one project to get finished this year. Guess I wasnt that lucky. Hopefully my website will save my grade. Anyways, onto my summary of this year. Its been chaos. Beautiful chaos. There have been ups and downs. I loved every moment. From the start of JPL; I was working on the Kevin Arm, on task, making greast progress. Then I got moved to the Trash Truck, unorganized and hard to stay on task, little to no progress. Then there was the handouts. Our idea was tanked; although it was off to an amazing start. Then I got to judge a few Wednesday Challenges along with Connor, Keilah, and Alvin. Those went rather well I must say. Then came the shelves. We got off to rocky start; waiting on responses and funding. We were left with only 7 days to finish the shelves, and at the beginning, I thought we could do it. It turns out, my optimism was short-lived. Today, May 31, 2017, is the last day. and we have no materials, no motivation, and no hope. It's over. The year, our final project, and our grades. I wish everyone an amazing summer! Wherever life takes you, I wish you the best of luck.
