DAY 1!!! It's the first day of school and today starts my second year having Dr. Neat as a teacher! I had him 4th period back in my freshman year.

Dr.Neat introduced the class to our second teacher, Mr.Miller and how the class will be divided in half for the school year! He also gave us an idea of what to expect in his class for the 2016-2017 school year!

Everything from creating a website to google sketchup to building a skateboard! I think this is going to be an amazing year! Also, be sure to check out the class rules!Class Rules

August 9, 2016

Day 2!!! YAYYYY! We went off with Mr.Miller today and he showed us around the shop! He talked about the robots and tools and a few general safety rules!

August 10, 2016

DAY 3! We started our spaghetti bridge Wednesday Challenge, which, for the record, is one of my favorites. Although I may not have gotten the best score back in my freshman year.

August 11, 2016

It's day 4 in Dr.Neat's class! Today we went over how grades work.

August 12, 2016-August 17, 2016

The veterans split off into the shop to work on making a safety video for the class to see. We made a list of what we wanted to include in the video and what we found

unessessary. Jacob, Ian, Cole, Connor, Keilah, Hunter, Michael and I are the Vets who worked to create the video.

I may be forgetting someone... IM SORRYYYY!!!!

August 18, 2016-August 19, 2016

The JPL Invention Challenge was released and we went over what we thought would be a good idea. The challenge is to transport a cup of water and a plastic goldfish

2 meters into a reception point spilling as little water as possible. Here are the rules!

August 22, 2016

The last of our safety video was filmed today!

I believe Sam was the one to start editing it... I don't remember... Please forgive me!

Anyways, we also began discussing some concepts for the JPL Invention Challenge.

August 23, 2016

The veterans went back into the shop today to discuss the rules of the invention challenge. We proceeded to come up with as many ideas for our machine as possible.

The ideas included: an overhead track, slider, gimble, a car, a scissor lift, and one we call "Kevins Arm" which basically flips the cup over.

August 24, 2016

Another Spaghetti bridge day! YAYYYYY! My group members decides that using more glue was best due to the fact it caused the noodles to become more bendable.

When tested, our only issue was that it wasnt long enough but it was good for a first test since it held a decent amount of weight before breaking.

August 25, 2016

JPL Invention Challenge time with the other veterans. We went over the concepts in more detail and created a sketch of each one,

we even came up with a few ideas which broke the rules so we could get the class thinking on what to look for in an idea.

We also created a powerpoint to show to the class when Mr.Wilton is with us. Here is his website!

August 26, 2016

Mr.Wilton was in class today and some of the vets went up and presented our ideas to the class. We recieved positive and negative feedback which I think

will help us a lot later on.

August 29, 2016

The vets were back at it again, discussing the ideas for JPL.

August 30, 2016

Spaghetti Bridges!!!! YAYYYY!!! My group came up with a final design idea and tested our 3rd and 4th ones. We made some changes to our designs and should be ready for testing on Thursday!

I feel like I should also mention that our bridge was broken when we entered the shop at the beginning of class today. Luckily we have time to repair it. I just wish people wouldn't touch other peoples stuff lol.

August 31, 2016

Haiiii! Today is the final day to finish our spaghetti bridge before testing tomorrow! We have two bridges and will choose which to use tomorrow

last minute lol.

September 1, 2016

Bridge testing day! WOOOHOOO! The bridge in the back, the really long one, is the one we will use.

Okay, so my group was disqualified... Thats okay though, at least we tried! Right...? RIGHT....? Yeah...

Anyways, It's a minimum day! We get out at 12:30! Yayyy! Then we have a 4 day weekend!

September 5, 2016

Happy Memorial Day everyone!!!

I drove 7 hours home today! I was up at my parents condo by the beach. SOOOOO much traffic. Other than that it was a good day.

We also saw cows on the drive back!!!

September 6, 2016

Back to school after a 4 day weekend! Today,we got the results of the Wednesday Challenge! Connor's group won with a score of 13. As I mentioned earlier,

my group was DQ'd because our bridge was touching the sides. Dr.Neat also went over how to properly fill out a Wednesday Challenge form! You can see mine here

September 7, 2016

Wednesday Challenge take 2!!! Well, the veterans are not going to be included in this weeks Wednesday Challenge! Good luck to everyone participating!

The veterans are in the shop coming up with our plan for the JPL Invention Challenge. So far we have our list of general requirements and tomorrow we will work on

the list of requirements for each individual device.

September 8, 2016

The vets are back in the shop again to discuss the requirements for each individual device! YAY!

I was split off with Keilah and Connor to work on our "Trash Truck" idea. WOOHOO

September 9, 2016

Mr.Wilton is here today and we are presenting our JPL Invention Challenge ideas to the class! I think all will go fairly well. WOOHOOO

Mr.Wiltons only concern was on our time management. I feel like it we work hard that we will finish all of our work a little earlier than expected.

It was nice to recieve the input of the class again as well. Have a nice weekend everyone!!!!

September 11, 2016

15 years ago today, a devestating terrorist attack took down the twin towers.

September 12, 2016

I have a history test today... Progressive Era, WOOOHOO! Wish me luck!

Anyways, today in robotics, the vets went into the shop and continued our ideas for JPL.We made sketch-ups of the funnel, field, and our devices(along with a cup and 2D fish)

and Alvin intends to build the reception point this evening for class tomorrow.

September 13, 2016

Today the vets split off to work on the JPL invention challenge again. Hunter and Jacob started testing a vaccum, Sam kept working on sketchup for his design.

Connor and Keilah discussed their ideas, and I worked away at my website. Alvin also brought in the model of the reception point and the base of the funnel.

September 14, 2016

Wednesday Challenge #3!!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!!! Our goal is to cut a piece of wood as accurately as possible to a length of

2 inches. Our group was pretty close!!! YAYYYYY!!!! Here's the Wednesday Challenge Form

September 15, 2016

The vets are back working on JPL. Dr.Neat wants to see water by tomorrow. A few people split off to cut out the funnel why the rest

of us are figuring out how to make a round funnel. We made a prototype of the rectangular funnel.

It was held together by duct tape! The rest of the class is continuing on with yesterdays Wednesday Challenge.

September 16, 2016

We presented our "rough models" of our devices to the class and tested each one. I got to take pictures!

September 19, 2016

Happy Monday everyone! Today the vets split off into the shop to work on our devices. I assisted with the vaccum idea and

Alvin and I "waterproofed" a cardboard model of our funnel, which was modified so the fish could fit through no matter which way it was facing.

September 20, 2016

Today we had a guest speaker from skillify! WOOHOOOO! Other than that we only had 10 minutes of class to work on stuff.

September 21, 2016

It's WEDNESDAYYYYYYY!!! YAYYYYYYY!!!! That means its a.....

The vets are off in the shop working on JPL! Alvin, Ian, and I worked on sawing some wood down to properly hold the funnel. Such knowlage. Much robotics.

September 22, 2016

The vets are continuing with JPL! YAYYYYYY! Alvin and I finished attaching the model funnel and tested out how well the water ran off it.

Cole and Sam were working on the overhead track,

Connor and Keilah were working on their "Trash Truck" idea, Jacob and Hunter were working on the pump,

and Kevin was working on the "Kevin Arm."

Today was a very productive day!
September 23, 2016

Mr.Wilton was with us again today! We showed the class a CAD of the Kevin arm,to which Wilton suggested using wood rather than metal,Sam demonstrated his

device. The problem Sam faces is basically just knocking the cup over when its still on the ground. Alvin and I also went over our modifications to the funnel

and our "water research" so to speak.

September 26, 2016

Happy Monday everyone!!! Hope you all had an amazing weekend! Today in class we went over how grades work!!! Apparently Dr.Neat liked

my website. He ended up showing mine to the class. I feel so honoured. Derpderp. I have a B in the class. For all my classmates, here are the grades.

September 27, 2016

Anyone catch the debate last night? Well, check it out!

Anyways, today in class watched a video on the explosion of Falcon9 due to the mixing

of fuel and LOX tank. After that the vets split off into the shop to work on JPL. Kevin and Sam were working on CAD.

Cole and Ian were testing the overhead track

Connor and Keilah were working on CAD as well, yet I didnt get any pictures of them, and Alvin and I were waiting on fabrication jobs.

September 28, 2016
so that means it's a.....

Today the class started the quarter final Wednesday Challenge. The vets are off in the shop working on JPL.

Alvin, Connor, and Keilah worked on CAD for their device.

Hunter and Jacob continued on the vaccum.

Sam continued making changes to the overhead track.

Kevin, Cole, and Michael were also working on CAD.

September 29, 2016

Today in class the JPL group continued experimenting with the devices.Since our CAD was accidentally deleted, Alvin and I started working to finish a last-minute CAD for Keilah. Connor was messing around with a motor to power the pulley system for the Trash Truck Device. Keilah and Ian were working on fabrication. Hunter and Jacob continued making adjustments to their pump.

September 30, 2016

Happy Friday everyone!!!! Did you all hear about the black moon which is basically the second new moon to rise in one month?

Thought this one looked cool too...

Today in class Mr. Wilton was back with us and we presented our JPL devices to the class. He gave us some really good suggestions!

COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN!

October 1, 2016

OKTOBERFEST WAS DOWN ON HONOLULU IN MONTROSE TODAY FROM 12-11! I went with my friends David, Michael(not the one in this class),and Karen for maybe about 7/8 hours! I had an amazing time. We went on rides, played games, and ate lots of food.

And yes I got my face painted. Cause ya know. Why not?

October 3, 2016

Happy Monday everyone! Today in class Mr. Miller went over what a GFCI outlet is and how it can shut off instantly if electric current is interrupted.

After that, the vets split off into the shop once again. Alvin and I gathered 2 by 4's for the Kevin arm which we will hopefully start fabrication on tomorrow.

Alvin, Connor, Keilah, and I also discussed the "Trash Truck" and how the cable will work.

October 4, 2016

Today in class Kevin printed out the CAD so Alvin, Ian, and I could start on fabrication for the Kevin Arm. Alvin and I took some screws out of old 2 by 4's and cut them down to size for Kevin's device. Keilah was also finishing up the CAD and Connor started fabrication.

October 5, 2016

It's Wednesday!!!! That means the rest of the class is working on a...

The veterans went back into the shop to work on JPL. Alvin was cutting down the frame for Keilah's device while I went off with Michael to use the table saw to cut down pieces for the "Kevin Arm". With shorter periods due to assembly schedule, we didnt finish and will continue tomorrow.

October 6, 2016

Today in class Michael and I finished cutting down 2 by 4's and began drilling holes for the "Kevin Arm." I believe at lunch or something, Keilah and Alvin made a trip to the store to purchase some wood which was needed for their device.

October 7, 2016

Minuimum day!!!! It's the end of the quarter. Woohoo. That just means less time with Dr.Neat and Mr.Miller... NOOOOOOOO!!! Dr.Neat announced the results for the Arch bridge and us JPL people presented our devices once more.

Connor and Keilah went up and showed the class their sketchup.

Bad picture I know... I couldnt get a good angle.. Cole and Sam discussed their progress with the overhead track as well.

October 10, 2016

Happy Monday!!! Today in class Dr.Neat played a video which was suggested by Connor. Watch it below!

After that, the vets went off into the shop. I worked on my website and assisted Michael with cutting wood for the Kevin Arm.
October 11, 2016

I fixed the clock in my 3rd period class today!!!! WOOOHOOOO all that skill. Anywayssss, today in Dr.Neat's class we watched a video about a robotic "cheetah". Check it out below.

After that the vets moved into the shop to work on JPL. Cole and Sam worked on the overhead track, Michael, Ian, and I were helping Kevin while he drilled holes.
October 12, 2016

The rest of the class is working on a....

The vets are off in the shop working on JPL. Connor and Keilah were messing around with the motor for the pulley system once again and Alvin, Kevin, Michael, and I were cutting wood for the devices.

October 13, 2016

Today the vets are back in the shop working on JPL. I didn't get too much done today due to the fact I had a really bad headache. I helped Alvin glue a box together for Keilah's device.

October 14, 2016

I still have such a bad headache, so meh. Today in class we presented our ideas to the class and Mr.Wilton. We had to have the class move into the shop because some of the devices were too big to fit into the classroom.

Cole and Sam presented and demonstrated their overhead track with included 3D printed wheels and a holder for the cup which had been added and improved upon since last time. Kevin, Michael, and I presented our progress on the Kevin arm. We have our base cut out but some of it still needs to be assembled, so we didnt have a demonstration of any kind.

Connor, Keilah, and Alvin presented in the classroom. Connor went over a rough drawing of the design and how it's going to work. Keilah and Alvin showed some of the wood they cut down to size and the switch to start the device.

Hunter and Jacob also presented in class. They demonstrated how the pump can now transport the water AND the fish. It seemed to work really well.

I think every design is making great progress and we are all on good track.

Also, It's NATIONAL DESSERT DAY!!!!

October 15, 2016

HOMECOMING 2016!!!!! WOOOHOOO. It was at the California Science Center, so I got to go around and look at the exhibits, I didnt do any dancing lol. I went with my friends Micheal, Karen, Matthew, Hunter, and Ryan, and my date David! It was super fun! I didnt get many pictures so... sorry! Hope everyone else who went had an amazing time!

October 17, 2016

Happy Monday everyone!!!! Today in class Michael and I cut down the metal bar for the Kevin Arm. Other than that, I just updated my website and what not.

October 18, 2016

Today in class the vets continued to work on JPL. Alvin and I cut down wood for Keilah and Connor while they worked on the electronics for the device. I also updated my website.

Also, this tool knows whats up. It probably watched our safety video lol.

If you can't read it, it says "Warning Wear Safety Goggles"

October 19, 2016

The PSAT is today... UGHHHHHH! Welp, I hope I did well. Anyways, class was only 26 minutes today so the vets didnt have time to do much. Kevin and I started drawing out the frame for the Kevin Arm, and I spotted Alvin on the table saw, but we ran out of time to do much else.

It is Wednesday though... so that means the rest of the class was working on a....

They have to make a 90 degree angle as accuratley as possible using 3 straws. I dont know the guidelines of the challenge since I was only in the room for a moment to grab my laptop.

October 20, 2016

Today the vets went into the shop. I got a copy of the CAD for Keilah's device so just in case it gets deleted, I have a copy. Yay me. I also assisted Alvin in cutting down some wood on the table saw, so we can start assembly ASAP since we are getting behind.

Also, we dont have school tomorrow. Just a fun fact.

October 21, 2016

We have no school today!!!! I get to sleep in! YASSSSSS. I will miss Robotics today though. See you all Monday!

October 24, 2016

IT'S RAINING IN CALIFORNIA!!!! NO WAYYYYY!

Im not sad that it's raining, I just love the movie this is from. Hope you all have seen it! Anyways, today in class Mr.Miller went over grades and then the vets split off into the shop. Kevin, Michael, Ian, Kirk, and I were working on the frame for the Kevin arm.

October 25, 2016

It's Taco Tuesday!!!!!(I only say that now because I actually get tacos today! yayyyy)

Now I'm hungry... Great. Anywho, today in class Keilah and I started cutting down more wood for the Trash Truck. Alvin also went over how the frame was going to be assembled so I could begin assembly tomorrow while he is cutting the rest of the wood.

October 26, 2016

Today in class I started gluing pieces together for Keilah's device. We are finally starting assembly! YASSSSSSS! Connor was off cutting and smoothing out the wheels for the pulleys.

October 27, 2016

Today is Thursday! I can't believe the week went by so quickly. It's almost Halloween!!!!! WOOHOOOOO! Anyways, today in class I continued to glue pieces for the frame of the trash truck. yay. I also helped Alvin cut wood with the table saw.

Sorry for all my excitement, I'm in a really good mood today.

October 28, 2016

Happy Friday!!! YAYYYY! It's raining again :) Today the class presented our ideas and progress to Mr.Wilton.I spent most of my time in the shop gluing more pieces together for the Trash Truck. We are very behind unfortunately.

October 29, 2016

MY HALLOWEEN PARTY IS TODAY!!!!! YASSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
\

So many more people came, I just didnt get a lot of pictures.

October 30, 2016

Today is Brianna's Halloween Party!!!! WOOOHOOOO!

October 31, 2016

IT'S HALLOWEEN!!!!!!

YASSSSSSSSSSS!!!! MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY OF THE YEAR!!! Today in class I was in costme so I had to be extra careful about using tools in the shop. Connor and I recut some of the wood using the table saw so they would match Alvin's CAD. In other news, I got to go trick or treating with my friends; Karen, David, Daniel, Micheal, Ryan, Brandon, and Jason!!!!

November 1, 2016

It's November!!!! Today in class I marked some measurements on plywood and cut them out to match Alvins CAD.

November 2, 2016

So the class is working on a...

In the shop we are beginning to assemble the cart for our device. Keilah was working on the ring to hold the cup and Alvin and I were putting together the stand. Connor was off cutting down the wheels.

November 3, 2016

It's National Sandwich Day!!!!!!! YASSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! And yes, I did go to subway and get a sandwich.

Today in class Keilah and I glued more of the frame, Connor was cutting down the wheels, and Alvin was assembling the cart. I also gathered washers and bolts to fit the cart.

November 4, 2016

Happy Friday everyone!!!! Or kinda happy.. Mr. Wilton was with us today. Our group may not have impressed him with what we had to show. If thats the case, we may have lost funding. I tried to remain optimistic throughout everything, but now its proving difficult.

When I update this website, I dont want to just tell you what we do in class, I like for everyone to get to know ME as a person. Its hard for me to see my friends upset. We can all relate to feeling upset. To being sad. I feel like this is a learning experience. Like if we had a chance to do it all over again, we would work so much harder.

I wasn't always part of Keilahs group, I started off working on the Kevin Arm and wherever help was needed. I joined Keilah, Connor, and Alvin when they got behind. I believed 100% that we could catch up and do really well, but maybe I was wrong. I dont like to say things like that until I know for sure what the outcome is, so we will have to wait until Monday.

Well, I hope everyone in my group, and everyone who is reading this has an amazing Friday and a fantastic weekend!

November 5, 2016

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CONNOR!!!!!!!! YOURE 18 NOW! CONGRATULATIONS! HOPE YOU HAVE AN AMAZING BIRTHDAY!

November 7, 2016

Happy Monday everyone! Our group didnt lose funding!!! THANK GOODNESS! I was so worried. We really do need to pick up the pace on our device though.

Connor and I figured out how to make the cart stay on the ropes and brainstormed how to get it over the end of the device to dump the water. Keilah was cutting down wood when the saw broke. So we had to use the table saw, which took us awhile because a truck was blocking the area where we normally put it so extension cords saved the day.

I came by after school to help Alvin in the shop with cutting some more wood down. He will be bringing the cables for the pulleys tomorrow so we can get a move on with assembly.

November 8, 2016

Its election day!!!!! Wish America luck... Today in class I drilled a hole in the last wheel for the pulley. I assisted Keilah in attaching the motor to the frame along with hooking up the rope for the track.

On the other hand, Trump was elected... Good luck america.

November 9, 2016

It's Wednesday!!! That mean the class is working on a...

That and I have a history test today... I didnt have enough time to study... wahhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Anyways, today in Robotics we added more wheels to the device. We also ran the motor... which ended up melting the rope!!!!! UGHHHH. Oh well, such as life.

November 10, 2016

Happy Thursday! Keilah and Alvin were absent which left Connor and I to present our ideas to the class and Mr.Wilton. We didnt have the rope to hold the cart and we didnt have a demonstration like the other groups, but I feel like if we really work hard, we will be done by next Friday.

November 11, 2016

We dont have school today. HAPPY VETERANS DAY EVERYONE!

I spent the day at the mall with my friends David and Karen. We got ice cream from North Pole and I bought a cool Dinosaur sweater. For the record, I absolutley LOVE dinosaurs.

November 14, 2016

Happy Monday everyone!!!! Today in class we got the drive cable set up and added a wheel to the motor so it would catch better. We also moved one of the beams down so the cart could make its way over the pulleys easier.

November 15, 2016

Happy Tuesday everyone! We are still trying to get the cart to get over the pulleys at the end. We added another pulley to the bottom of the drive cable, which seemed to help, but its still not enough. If we give the motor full power, it flips out and shuts off, which could obviously cause problems at competition if it happens.

November 16, 2016

Today in class we added yet another pulley to the top of the drive pulley and the cart successfully goes over at the end. Although, it isnt very graceful. It kind of just throws itself over.

I also drilled holes in the sides of the device and added the handles! Now it should be easier to transport.

November 17, 2016

Happy Thursday!!!! Today is the last day we have to work. We tried really hard during class to get our device functioning, but it wasnt enough, so I came back after school to see what I could do. I took apart the cart and sawed down the sides so the wheels could make it over the pulleys easier. Unfortunately, I ran out of time to reassemble the cart, so I will try to come in at lunch tomorrow to finish it up. Im not gonna give up until I've given it all I've got.

We have each given 100+ hours to this device. Connor and Keilah worked hard during class, Alvin and I put in hours after school. We havent come this far to fail. I think we can do this. I just want to be able to say we gave it all of our effort. Tomorrow is the deadline, I hope we can make it work.

November 18, 2016

It's the last day before Thanksgiving break!!!! WOOHOOOOO!!! And its the last day until the JPL Invention Challenge. Our device will not be entered into the challenge. I wish the best of luck to the other teams.

A huge thank you to Keilah, for being the best "Team Captain" I've had. And to Alvin and Connor for working so very hard to finish the device. Better luck next time. Sorry for the slightly unhappy update.

The other teams demonstrated their devices as well. The kevin arm and overhead track were both fully functional. Jacobs group has until tomorrow morning to make his device work. I hope it ends up working well.

November 19, 2016

THE JPL INVENTION CHALLENGE IS TODAY!!!! I DONT GET TO GO BECAUSE IM 200+ MILES AWAY!!! NOOOOOOO. GOOD LUCK TO KEVIN, COLE, SAM, KIRK, HUNTER, ALVIN, KEILAH, CONNOR, MICHAEL, AND IAN! I HOPE WE WIN!

I'll have pictures of my vacation uploaded when i get back to school.

November 19-27, 2016

Thanksgiving break was sooo fun! I went up to my family's beach house. I really needed some time to relax. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thnaksgiving with friends and family.

November 28, 2016

It's back to school we go!!!! I must say that it is starting to feel more like winter since the temperature is definately dropping. Fun Fact: I hate cold weather. Anyways, Today in class, the vets went into the shop to work on our presentations for the class tomorrow. We have to document from beginning to end, how we feel our device could have been better, how it was good, materials, and what we would do differently.\

As you guys know, my teams device was not entered into the JPL Invention Challenge. In my opinion, it was mostly our time management which got us in the end. I feel like if we worked harder, and of course, more efficiently, we could have had a very good, and functional device. Unfortunately, thats not the way things turened out. Oh well, there is always next time.

November 29, 2016

Today we are presenting to the class. The JPL Crew went up to go over how the competition went. None of us won, but we tried really hard. Cole and Sam's device malfunctioned during their turn. One rope got wrapped around the part that moved the cup across the track and stopped it from reaching the reception point. Jacob and hunter's device sucked up the fish buit it ended up getting stuck. He mentioned how he would have made the chamber of the vaccume more circular so it would have had more suction the the square one he had.

Kevim, Micheal, and Ian's devide worked as planned. It transported the fish and water into the reception point. They got a time of around 18 seconds, 15 of which were penalty seconds, and got 190 grams of water. We also shoed the class the scores, which you can look at below.

Our group had a seperate Powerpoint for our device, but we ended up with not enough time to show it to the class.

November 30, 2016

It's Wednesday!!!! The vets(who need to work on their websites) are being given this class period to do so! Keilah, Connor, Ian, Jacob, Michael, and Kirk were in the CAD Cave, while Hunter, Cole, and I were at one of the tables in the shop since there was no more room for us. Im pretty much up to date, but there is still lots of details I plan to add within the next 56 minutes. Some of the vets who dont need to work on their websites are judging todays

Im honestly not too sure what the challenge is because I was off in the shop, but I saw grahnm crackers and marshmallows... YUMMY! Hope everyone did well with whatever it was!

I added a countdown to Christmas because the first day of December is tomorrow, got my pictures to show up, fixed my broken links, and added more information to each entry. I also chaged the background to snowflakes to get myself in a more Christmassy(yes thats a word) mood. I think I made a lot of progress towards being fully up-to-date by Friday!

COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS!

December 1, 2016

IT'S DECEMBER!!!!!! CHRISTMAS IS GETTING CLOSE!!!! YAYYYYYY!!!

But... so are finals... oh no.... NOT YAY. DEFINATELY NOT YAY.

Anyways, today in class the rest of the class continued with the Wednesday challenge. The vets went off into the shop/CAD Cave to work on our websites some more since Mr.Miller/Dr.Neat are grading this weekend. I added some more pictures and continued to add detail to my entries. Notice I changed the pikachu gifs at the bottom to be christmas themed. I also stopped by Kevin and Alvin to see what The Wednesday Challenge was. The goal was to build the tallest structure out of a limited amount of pretzels, marshmallows, and graham crackers. The teams had to make a CAD of their structures and then switch and see if they could actually construct their CADs.

As for the Wednesday Challenge, I heard that most groups were DQ'd. I did however see this beautiful creation while talking to Kevin right before the end of class.

So if anyone ever asks what the robotics kids do during class, you can just show them this.

December 2, 2016

Happy Friday everyone! Today is National Fritters Day, Aren't we all lucky that this this special day has finally arrived!? Before you can begin to celebrate this very important day, you need to know what a "fritter" is. Many people do not know, making it all the more fun to eat your first fritter today. A fritter is a fried cake or dough with fruit or meats inside. Whatever you do, do not fritter this day away without eating at least one fritter.(pun intended) I actually had a fritter for breakfast so, Im done. :)

Today in class Mr.Wilton came into the shop along with Mr.Miller and Dr.Neat to talk with the vets about the JPl Invention Challenge. They asked each of us if we could do it all again, what we would change, what we would do again, and how many hours we put in to the devices. I said that I would have managed my time better because I believe I could have gotten more work done in the same amount of time if I applied myself. I also said that I would have come in after school again because I think it made a pretty big difference.

Overall I think I put in 80/85 hours into the device in total.

Oh! And here are the results of this weeks Wednesday Challenge! Check them out! Congratulations to the winner!

In other news, we were told that the final would be the JPL Invention Challenge. So if we can match or beat Kevin's teams score of 18ish seconds, we would get an A. This gives us another chance to fix our device. WOOHOOO!

Happy Monday everyone!!!! Hope you all had a fantastic weekend! Today in class we went off in the shop to work on the final. Connor, Keilah, Alvin, and I decided at the beginning of class to try to fix our device. We messed around with bending some metal bars to replace the ropes that hold the cart up. We bent one over the pulleys on the sides and tried to see if zip ties could hold the cart on. Towards the end of class, we decided that we wouldnt continue trying to make our device work. That means that our semester grade is based ENTIRELY off websites.

For my website, I keep missing a point for detail, so I really need to work on making my entries longer and more descriptive. We only have about 8 more days in Dr.Neats class until break, so that means 8 days to make my website the best it can be! I should add that all the newbies or the nonveterans final has been cut in half. Meaning that they only have to transport the cup 1 meter instead of 2 like the JPL Crew did. They do still have the same amount of water and the same cup.

It's Tuesday, and a banking day. That means school starts at 9 rather than 8. Anyways, today during the majority of the class period, the vets who arent working on their devices, cleaned up the shop. Alvin and I had to clean up the field cause we made the biggest mess out of all the groups. I sweeped up the field, put our pulleys back in the drawer, vaccumed, and put all of our tools away. By the end of the period, everything was looking pretty good in our area. Connor and Keilah didnt help us because they really needed to work on their websites. As for the rest of the class, they all continued working on the final.

Also, today is microwave oven day! Be sure to heat up some hot chocolate in there to celebrate(I only say that cause I may or may not have a huge obsession with hot chocolate.)

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today at lunch was the robotics "kick off" meeting! There was a HUGE turnout! We went over what days the club meets, what we will have to do, watched a preview of this years challenge(which you can see below), and much more! I cant wait for the season to start! Im hoping to get involved with the social media for the club.

Today in class I vaccumed up the field some more, put back loose pieces, and as you can see, updated my website. So today was a fairly slow day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID!!!!!!! YOURE 18! HAVE A GREAT DAY! I LOVE YOU!!!!

Anyways, today in class the vets cleaned up the shop! Everyone really came together and worked hard. We all got a lot done in the hour we had. I speant my time organizing the wood pile with Kirk. We took all of the wood out of the bin and sorted it by thin plywood, small 2x4's, and pieces too big to move easily lol. Any wood that had skrews or nails in it were given to Alvin so he could remove them.

I did end up geting lots of cuts and splinters all over my hands, and a piece of wood fell on my foot, but other than that it was a fun job to do since I love sorting things. After everyones hard work, the shop is looking better than it has in a long time! Just in time for Robotics season to start! WOOOHOO!

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE! THE LAST FRIDAY BEFORE FINALS! I also have a history test on World War 2 today. Im not ready lol. Anyways, today in robotics I cleaned out the old CAD Cave. I moved all the cardboard tube to where we keep the PVC Pipe, which is over behind the welding area. I also sweeped and cleaned off the tables. It was an absolute disaster in there. Now it looks a little nicer.

December 10/11 2016

I went up to Big Bear to visit family this weekend. We didnt get any fresh snowfall, but it was cold and there was still some snow on the ground. It was absolutely gorgeous up there. It took us about 3 and a half hours to get up there on Friday because of terrible traffic.

December 12, 2016

Today in robotics everyone got to work on their finals. Since my final grade is based on just my website, I had plenty of time to update and add all my pictures.

December 13, 2016

Happy Tuesday everyone! Today in robotics I just continued to update my website and rearrange the wood pile a bit, since it is already getting disorganized. Mr.Miller also told us that we wont be able to see our grades anymore because he wants all of us to focus on the final.
